In His Own Words

I enjoy caring for women at all points of their journey in life. Going to see a gynaecologist or obstetrician can be difficult and my role is to provide the best possible advice, treatment and support aiding you to be actively involved in decision making about your treatment or care.

Pregnancy is an exciting time in your life. It is also a pivotal time and a chance to enhance long term outcomes for your family. I enjoy caring for women in both low and high risk obstetric categories. I have practiced obstetrics both in private and previously public for 30 years and never tire of the novelty of new babies arriving. I enjoy working in a team with other specialists in including endocrinologists, cardiologists, neurologists, psychiatrists and many others to achieve the best possible outcome.

I regularly perform complex laparoscopic surgery for endometriosis, fibroids, ovarian pathology, and infertility as well as for hysterectomy. I have always had a great interest and passion for pelvic organ prolapse and incontinence care and surgical remediation. Menopause sometimes is another challenging time in a woman’s life and warrants close attention with expert advice and support.

I have enjoyed the support of Dr Clare Boothroyd and her team and have worked closely with her in IVF and reproductive technologies for 10 years. The procedural part of my reproductive practice is based at Care Fertility, Greenslopes. I have recently completed a Master’s Degree with excellence at UNSW in Reproductive Medicine and feel I can provide expert care including to male partners with my specialist urology team partners.

Most of my membership training was at the Mercy Hospital and Austin and Repatriation Hospitals in Melbourne with 18 months in Limerick, Ireland before returning to work as a clinical lecturer (University of Queensland) at the Mater, Princess Alexandra and QEII hospitals. I worked for many years as a gynaecologist at Redland Hospital and was the inaugural director of Gynaecology at Greenslopes Private Hospital. My current specialist appointments are at Mater Mother’s Private and Mater Private Hospitals and Greenslopes Private Hospital.

I believe in placing patient care at the highest priority. Myself, staff and colleagues understand that respect, confidentiality and compassion must always be placed first. We strive to run on time, but for each person who entrusts their care to us, time cannot be conveniently limited. We will endeavour to ensure you are not kept waiting excessively.
